ne of the key features of the SICS is our team. Our goal is to serve patient care through research as well as learning young researchers how to conduct it. To keep our research spirit alive we regularly meet in- and outside the hospital.

STUDENTS
We are proud of all the students that have contributed and currently are contributing to the SICS. We teach them on Good Clinical Practice and create an environment in which they can obtain skills in systematic reviews, clinical examination and CCUS.

Koen Geertzen – Master student. Investigates possible collaborations with the Emergency Department and the additive value of early CCUS.
- Maaike Schagen – Master student. Is currently investigating the possibilities of repeated right ventricular strain measurements.

Nymke Trouwborst – Master student. Investigates fluid balance in trauma patients during ED and ICU admission.

Hidde Pelsma – Master student. Investigates the association between IVC collapsibility and renal resistive index.

Elsa Doornbos – Master student. Investigates the validation of risk scores in ICU patients.
- Xantia Heeres – Master student in pharmacology. Investigates the impact of medication (changes) on outcome in the SICS cohort.
- Britt Keuning – Master student. Investigated and reviewed all risk scores predicting mortality in the critically ill.
- Devon Dijkhuizen – Bachelor student. Investigated the feasibility of image validation by a medical student.

Jan-Paul de Bruin – Master student. Investigated the use of bedside ultrasonography of the inferior vena cava collapsibility in acute kidney injury prediction.

Nynke van der Veen – Master student. Investigates the possible association between renal resistive index and acute injury in ICU patients

Chantal Dankfort – MD, anesthesiologist in training. Investigates correlation between fractional shortening and cardiac output

Jeroen Boekema – Master student. Conducting research on Cardiac Output in Septic patients
COORDINATORS
We are proud that we are able to run the SICS for over three years now. Running an ongoing cohort study in the ICU is challenging.

Renske Wiersema – MSc, PhD candidate – SICS-II coordinator, SOCCS coordinator

Iwan C.C. van der Horst – MD, PhD – SICS coordinator, Principle investigator, Associate professor, Intensivist-cardiologist, Course director bachelor thesis and product

Eric Keus – MD, PhD – Principle investigator, Assistant professor, Intensivist-surgeon, Epidemiologist

Wim Dieperink – MSc, PhD – ICU research coordinator

Bart Hiemstra – MD, PhD in training – SICS-I coordinator
